Entering the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in 2008, Başar Can Kıvrak
graduated in 2012 with the highest degree red diploma from the class of Eliso Virsaladze,
after receiving numerous awards in both national and international competitions. He began his
piano studies with Ozan Bilen when he was ten years old, continuing with Emre Şen and
Namık Sultanov. He studied with Gülnara Aziz between 2003 and 2008, after which he
graduated with a high honours degree from the Bilkent University, Faculty of Music and
Performing Arts. He received his “Proficiency in Arts” degree in 2019 from the Eskişehir
Anadolu University State Conservatory, under the supervision of Gökhan Aybulus.
Başar Can Kıvrak was awarded Third Prize in October 2002 at the 1st International
Ferdi Statzer Piano Competion, the “Yamaha Prize” in December 2004, and the “Grand Prix”
at the 2nd International Young Virtuoso Piano Competition (April 2005) which took place in
Sofia, Bulgaria.

Having participated in numerous recordings for the TRT Ankara and İstanbul Radio
Stations, Başar Can Kıvrak has performed as soloist with all state symphony orchestras, as
well as the Borusan İstanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, Tekfen
Philharmonic Orchestra, Filarmoni Antalya, Eskişehir Anadolu University Symphony
Orchestra, Gedik Philarnmonia, Orchestra Academic Başkent, Bilkent Youth Symphony
Orchestra, Dolnoslaska Philharmonia Orchestra, Yaşar University Symphony Orchestra,
Mersin University Chamber Orchestra, Muğla Metropolitan Municipality Symphony
Orchestra, and Orchestra Sion. He has also performed with the Borusan Quartet and Semplice

In Moscow, Başar Can Kıvrak has given concerts at the Prokofiev Festival, as well
The Rachmaninoff Hall, the Small Hall and the White Hall of the Moscow State
Conservatory. In addition, he has performed at the Antalya International Piano Festival,
Nicosia International Piano Festival, Ankara International Music Festival, Gümüşlük
International Music Festival, Bursa Osmangazi Chamber Music Festival, İzmir International
New Music Days, IKSEV International İzmir Festival, KK Beethoven 250 Festival, and İdil
Biret Piano Festival. During the 2016-2017 concert season, he has performed within the scope
of a special project, with the Trio Ba especially founded for the purpose, in a series of five
concerts comprising the complete Piano Trios of L.van Beethoven. This was a first in Turkey.
In 2018, together with pianist Cem Babacan, Kıvrak performed in the Turkish
premiere of Max Bruch’s Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra, with the Presidential State
Orchestra and conductor Raoul Grüneis; and in the world premiere of Bogatay Köprülü’s
Piano Concerto, performed with conductor Can Okan and the İzmir Festival Orchestra within
the scope of the International İzmir Festival. In 2019, The Duo Yin-Yang which Kıvrak
founded together with violist Pınar Dinçer, performed in many concerts, notably at the İzmir
AASSM, İstanbul Süreyya Opera House and the Porto ESMAE Concert Hall.
Başar Can Kıvrak currently serves as faculty member at the Yaşar University, Arts and
Design Faculty, Music Department, while at the same time pursuing his career as a concert
pianist, taking part in concerts both in Turkey and abroad
